After the bowhunt in August I neglected to empty my emergency water container: the GI canteen that I carry strapped to my ATV. While elk hunting last week I went to fill it before riding out in the morning, and of course it stunk to high heaven. Not having the time to clean it properly I rinsed it in plain water, dropped an MP1 tab into it, and filled it up. An hour later the stench was completely gone. I thought it might be worth a try for folks who have had trouble getting various odors (food, drink, etc) out of their plastic water bottles. It may work no better than regular bleach but then again it might.

I was wondering about the same thing: can MP1 be used as a desinfectant, for example for Camel back bladders?

Yes, it should work as a disinfectant, as well as the concentrated MIOX solution. I have run some preliminary tests with the MIOX solution and the results look good. More to come on the MIOX test results in the next several weeks.
