So when I first started visiting "survival" type websites and forums I did not immediately get that this was an acronym.
I actually thought it was a Hopi word for the same concept.
Then one day I was sitting somewhere and it just dawned on me. Duh; "The end of the world as we know it".
I had to laugh at myself for not seeing it the first time.
