Went camping over the weekend. Last night, a friend borrowed my headlamp and headed out to get a stringer with bluegill on it he had left on the lakeside. A couple had spread out a blanket directly in his path by the lakeside, and things were hot and heavy so he turned back to camp. He went back this morning and a coon had dined on his fish. He said it happened before, usually he finds the stringer with the fish heads still left on it.

I have had water snakes start dining on my stringers full of fish before. What has ever stolen or attacked your stringer if anything?

A snapping turtle... At least that's what was chomping on the leftover fishbits when I got there. The fish could have been done in by some other animal.
