Hi everyone,

We are starting to pack for a trip to thailand. I'm new to this area, hence the question:

Will there be any problems taking an FAK into Thailand? We plan on including all the normal stuff like band-aid, immodium, mosquito bite treatment, MSR MIOX, but also some prescription meds like generic antibiotics, cortisone skin treatment etc. Give the very severe anti-drug policy in place, are there meds we can better leave home?

We don't plan on taking anything that would be illegal in the EU.

Thanks!

Shouldn't be any problem taking normal stuff there. I've been there a couple of times this year and never had any trouble. Although I don't know if you're allowed to carry it on anymore, I came back right after that terrorist scare where they wouldn't let you take any liquids on board, that includes creams and stuff.

An acquaintance of mine travels a lot, and he just makes sure all his prescriptions are in the bottles they came in. He said he's never had trouble.

SE Asia means one thing to me: 100% DEET (that was the only thing that worked for me... It was also has the most accurate effective time rating.. At exactly 4 hours, I got bit)

Immodium is a distant second..

You can leave the antibiotics at home they are OTC there as is 5mg valium if needed. All the other stuff is reasonable if you plan to hike (day or trip). Consider taking antimalarial 2 weeks before arrival and continue 2 weeks after return. Dengue fever is a concern in that part of the world, but rarely fatal the first time you contract it. make sure to check out Chang Rai and Chang Mai. Have a great time Oh yeah, instead of ready made insect bit preperation. Get some aspirin when you get there. If you get bitten, make a paste out of a couple and apply it to the bite, it helps

Ok Guys,

Worthwhile info. Thank you very much.

We will be staying at hotels and daytripping to the main interesting sites. At the end we plan to do some boating excursions to Krabi and phi phi.

If I come to new insights, I'll be sure to share them.

Greets
