But that's also with the Squirt and I suspect, also with the Juice

I believe so, though on the squirt the paint seems to be better as it doesn't wear off.
I was just correcting the previous poster who said they were covered with plastic which adds to the bulk of the tool, there is no plastic covering and therefore no bulk.

I was going to buy a micra for my wife for her keychain. She wanted siscers in her purse to cut the string/plastic that some stores use to hold shoes together so that she could try them on. She didn't want anything "ugly", and apparently stainless is "ugly". I bought one of the blue micras, and she has had it on her keychain for years. The paint has worn 90%, and is now truely ugly, but she has grown quite dependent on it, and won't give it up.

Color is always there for those of us bored with plain, utility, stainless or black knifes and multi tools. But more importantly, think of color as adding "cuteness" or "style" for those not of the survival mindset and that might not carry a multi tool in its plain format.

I've EDC'd (pocket) carried the KF4 Juice (the yellow one) for a year along with my car keys and it still looks pretty good. There are some small nicks and dings but I'm happy with how it's holding up.

There's another aspect of having a colored tool. It looks cute to people who don't carry one and thus makes it more acceptable and less threatening. Possibly an important consideration if you've had people freak at your knives and tools before. Its for that reason that I carry a SAK secretary (I think it is) as well as my other knives and try to use it unless I need something sturdier or larger.

Bee, are you being silly here or is this based on some info? I LOVE the micra and EDC it. If they really are cutting off production, I'm buying enough of them to spread around and last me for a few decades.

There's something to be said for fitting a lot of usefull tools in a tiny package that almost disappears in the pocket. I'm really hoping you were kidding and just pimping your favorite, the Squirt...

Nah, i'm not saying they are retiring it, I was just wondering why they should keep making it since we got the Squirts which seem more appealing to most users.

I use a translucent green SAK Manager on my keyring, but I have a Micra in my FAK.

Its still on their web site under the current products.
I don't think the squirt is much larger, the small curve of the handles makes it appear to be larger. I don't have a micra around to compare though as we gave it to my MIL who kept borrowing it from my wife then she lost it in a week.

In fact, the Squirt is just a little bit smaller than a Micra!
