Actually the reason why rubing alcohol is 70% is because higher percentage alcohol would evaporate too quickly, contact time with microbes would be inadequate and they would not be killed as efficiently.
Hey Izzy - what size bottles do you keep in the kit? I've been looking for smaller sized bottles (2 oz or less) for my FAK and can't find them. Can you recommend a supplier?

Iodine is messy and some people have reactions ; Alcohol is to clean non-open wounds but mostly used to clean instruments ; Benzalconium chloride, final answer.
