I need to buy a couple of EMT shears for myself and my wife as part of our CERT FAK. I've seen the cheap ones in drugstores but I want to buy a really good quality one. Do any of our medics have a brand (or supplier) that has proven to be more durable than the rest? Thanks!

Just get the cheap ones, there's really no benefit to getting expensive ones.

Don't know if they have a 'brand', but the good ones i have are from Germany and were bought through Dynamed, an emt supply house who aren't in business anymore. THe cheap ones are usually stamped 'china'.

I work as a medic in a very busy urban EMS system. I have had the same pair for the last 14 years. They are by ADC, American Diagnostic Company. They are built solid. Highly recommended. You can fine em on Ebay.

Click here for Ebay link to ADC shears.

Ditto BigAssDiesel... ADC makes good, cheap shears! I loose 'em before I break em. Same pair in my turnouts for 8 years.

Ill also 1 up the ADC shears, i own probably 10-12 pair, not addicted to them or anything ,but everydrug rep known to man seems to "give them away" when they come knocking on the door.
ADC seems to be gold standard...........very good quality

the pair i "work EDC" are probably 8-10 yrs old i'd guess
