FWIW: Nice little hard case from CutleryShoppe.com for a PSK or whatever . Made from fiberglass-reinforced ABS, latching and waterproof...

And here's how they used it to make their $52.50 Ultimate Survival Kit

the nra offer is a great deal - especially due to the fact that the survival inc website is down - something about delinquent payment.

Thought someone might be interested in just the boxes without the stuff. The NRA offer IS a good deal considering that the Cutlery Shoppe sells the exact same kit (their Basic Survival Kit) for $37.50 (or should I say that's their price, I don't know if they sell any).

Are the inserts in the NRA kit easily removable?

The link to CS's "Ultimate Survival Kit" was for chuckles.

After a recent mention on this forum about the NRA survival kit I ordered one to check it out. While not complete in any sense of the word it is an incredible value. The blast match alone......... enuf said.

Since you've got one... Can the molded insert be removed so that you can cram more stuff into the box?

Yes, I don't see why not. It's simply expandable foam, a knife, a little scraping.....

I haven't tried it yet.

Oh. In the photo it appeared to be (at least to me, anyway) molded plastic.

Not at all part of the box. I've thought of scraping it out but have not because of the mirror and instructions. The foam appears to protect that but probably could be replaced by something else more useful.

The insides will come right out. Just glued in place foam. I ripped mine out. A few minor pieces were still left clinging inside. A minute or two of rubbing with my fingers was all it took to get rid of the excess. No scraping tools required.

It's a nice solid little box. Albeit fairly heavy for it's size. More buillet-proof than it really needs to be.
