Aspirin is definitely NOT to be given to stroke victims. It is more or less impossible to distinguish an ischemic (caused by a blood clot) stroke from an aneurytic (caused by a ruptured blood vessel) stroke in the field. Aspirin will help an ischemic stroke, but will make an aneurytic stroke much worse.
Aspirin is, however, useful for treating heart attacks.
