Jsut got off the phone with the gunsmith. It's NOT 22-250, it's "something else, we don't know what" and - a replacement barrel from NEF is $122 plus shipping, plus a report to the firing pin, plus shipping = I pulled the scope off the gun and gave the remains to the gunsmith for salvage...oh well, live & learn.
