Blast,
Kudos! I commend you on using the show to teach your daughter to be prepared. Nice job.

Ok, I watched it. I also watched LOST (what a waste of time) The only thing I saw confusing was how all comunication was lost, but somehow someone knew that Atlanta was blown up too. Did I miss something? Just curious. I'll check it out again just to see (as a previous poster said) YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!! Oh, sorry I was thinking about CSI. lmao |

The info about Atlanta came from an answering machine--lady called to leave her son a message when the bomb went off.

13 days, 21 hours, and 21 minutes to go, as of this post.
I just wish I had a better connection so I could see the webisodes.

Lost is still running. The second series is about to finish in the UK, and I gather the 3rd is about to start in the US. They plan to stretch it over 6 or 7 series (or more likely cancel it without resolving anything). Currently (UK pace) they are still on the island and haven't figured out much of what is going on. They haven't even circumnavigated the place, so there could indeed be Gilligan, or a huge hotel, on the other side. They have found buildings apparently used for research, and have received an air-drop of food supplies apparently intended for the researchers. The researchers are not friendly and occasionally kidnap or kill them.
It's not a real survival scenario. One of them had a half-hearted attempt to mark out a large signal-sign on the ground, but gave up a few hours later. Ironically this was just before the supplies arrived, so had it been done right it might have been seen by the plane and led to their rescue. If it was a plane - nobody keeps watch, so the supplies might have been delivered by submarine for all they know. They are utterly incurious about their surroundings. Many of them don't seem to want to be rescued.

The "monster" is apparently some kind of nanotechnology security system. It looks like black smoke, but is still mostly mysterious. The French woman is apparently a survivor of a previous crash (a boat, that time). She turns up now and then but they don't talk to her much.

I'm still watching it. For all its flaws it's still quite fun.

** SPOILER **The only thing I didn't like too much was their was only one Ham, and the guy was kooky and took money to send a message. Most of the ones I know aren't like that. Unfotunately, the stereotype is propagated, and now America probably things Ham's can charge..

Saw the second episode, not too bad. I would have thought it would have been more drama, but they try to put some science behind it. It's close, but the key thing like the EMP no t apparently effecting anything permanently seems odd. Other things only a HAM, or someone without a life would notice, like Pro-70 scanners used as radios for the sheriff portables, CB radio used as a mobile, and 400 or 800 Mhz radios used by the Mayor's office, and 400 Mhz (I think) hand held radios used by the Mayor's son at the mine. All talking together. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I'm looking forward to how they reveal things and see what happens.
