I have a Spyderco Delica as an everyday carry. Great little knife but I opted to replace it with a Spyderco Salt 1 some time ago which is the same form factor. I always carry my knife, tip down, in my right side pocket and clipped to the pcoket fabric. Well occasionally my knife will snag on something and get pulled out of the pocket and drop onto the floor, even after tighening the clip on it. One day, I lost my precious Spyderco while wearing it with my suit. I have no idea where it went nor did I feel it coming out of my pocket. So I went back to the Delica.

Then one day I was reading one of Doug R. article/reviews and he mentioned that small knives are easily worn on the waistband. So I tried it - I tucked my Delica between the waistband and belt and the nose into one of the pant loops. Eureka!

The positives - it's out of the pocket allowing my hand to reach in unencumbered to get my keys out!
Second, it fits more snuggly on the waistband and is out of the way. There is almost NO chance of it snagging and being pulled out and lost unlike a pocket carry.
Thirdly, the Delica is very thin so it is unobtrusive on my waistline and I hardly notice it.
Fourth, it is as easy to pull out and use as the pocket carry.
Fifth, as an added bonus it fastens my belt to the waistband because the knife is jambed in at a belt loop. This keeps the belt in the pants. WHY is this important? Well, I also wear my cell-phone on my belt and occasionally when I go to the toilet the cell-phone pulls the belt out of the loop and the phone falls OFF! To date, I've never dropped my phone in the toilet, but it has always been an ever present and real danger. Now, it's an impossiblility as the knife prevents the slippage of the belt. Most excellent.

The only minus - it takes both hands to efficiently store it back in the waistband. It can be done one handed but is a little more awkward.

[color:"red"]Thanks for the tip Doug. To celebrate this idea, I've got a new Salt 1, plain edge, on order right now to replace the lost one. [/color]

I feel your pain Roarmeister, I lost a Mont Blanc out of my pants pocket too. Now whenever I need to clip a pen to a pants pocket, it is a cheapie ball point. Rollerballs have a way of getting out somehow and staining a pants pocket unless it is the cap type with a stout cap like the Mont Blanc. But alas, the clip just wasn't tight enough.

Awwww... see someone putting a Delica to retirement always makes me a little sad.

I keep mine clipped to the sun visor of my car because I feel it's a bit too big to my taste to EDC... Such a great folder!

Quick tip for you: Take a hole punch, punch a hole in the tip of you belt about 1/2" back from the tip. When going to the toilet loosen belt to this hole. You can still get you trousers up and down easily but nothing comes off the belt. All my belts get this treatment. Works.

I do mine slightly different - I put the knife betwen the belt and the waistband. You feel it less then if the knife is right up against you.

It's slightly more conspicuous as you see the clip outside of the belt but then again if it is too concealed it could be construed as a concealed weapon in some jurisdictions.
