Why not have TWO kits? Your current PSK fits in your pocket, right? So keep it there, just in case that's all you end up with. Keep your cooking-container kit in your pack with some extra or duplicate items. If you end up with both, so much the better.

For about the lightest one cup aluminum cookpot try the frito lay bean dip can located in your chip isle. It is very sturdy and has a plastic lid.

Hi folks,
Been lurking for awhile now and wanted to say thanks for all the great info I've picked up here.

I have one of these bottles and they are great. The cup however seems to be double walled. I had thought to use it for boiling too, but I don't think it will work too well.
The cup and the bottle are very substantial and I'll probably pick up a few more just because I like the shape much better than the round ones. They look cool too.
I had seen what looked like the original bottles and cups at one of the suplus dealers, but for the life of me I can't remember which one. I bet those cups were single walled.
Anyway, thanks again,
Steve

I once tried that approch for a PSK, but rapidly went to the mess tin kit as described in that thread. Much easier and neater too...

Hi Alain!

Tonight, I purchased the GSI hard anodized boiler kit. Here it is next to a regular size Bic for comparison* :

You can find more detailed information about the product here : GSI hard anodized boiler.

The mess tins are great PSK containers, but I was looking for something more versatile that I could use elsewhere, when camping for example. If I want a smaller package, for day hikes, I can take the smaller cup rather than both, and leave the lid home as well. Obviously, this doesn't fit in my cargo pocket PSK but complements it. It's going to ride in my pack.

On a side note, I paired the pot kit with a MSR Windpro stove. NEAT! I just cooked some noodles with it, ready in no time. Hmmmmmm....

Just a quick update.
I found the original swiss bottle and cup combos at Cheaper Than Dirt for 7 bucks for the set.
The cups are single wall aluminum(would be nice in stainless) so I should be able to cook with them over a fire.
This should make my everyday fanny packs and work kits much more streamlined.
The bottle seals with a cork so I'll probably use the new bottle with the old cup unless I can think of something better.
Thanks,
Steve
