I wanted to get one of these 4 watt LED flaslights....in addition to my doug ritter special edition photon light of course. The T4 is rechargable and uses one rechargable battery. I was wondering if anyone knows if you can also use non-rechargable lilthium batteries with it. So I can recharge it at home, but use normal batteries on the trail. Anyone know?

I have a T4 and don't believe you can use regular lithiums with it. It is probably not a good choice for trail use as it may not be as water resistant as say the T3. I was using an Inova XO3 for my backback but just picked up a Surefire L2 to replace it.

The L2 beam seems to be a cross between a spot and a flood. Oh so bright but probably not as good a throw as the T4 or Streamlight TL2. All three are rated at 100 lumens. For trail use, consider the Surefire L2. Two brightness levels and long battery life.

I have an ARC Lite (Special Edition), one of the old or first ones with the then brighter led.

The main thing that sold me was it's ability to use off the shelf AAA batteries. In an emergency or disaster and possible world-wide travels (which I used to sometimes find myself) the standard AAA were and are easier to come by (spares not withstanding).

Special battery requirements or sizing, in my opinion, detract from the practicality of a Survival flash-light.
