Great start for a mini-kit.

Things you might want to add: folding-saw, sewing-kit, HD aluminium foil, some zip-locks, bandanna, whistle, knife and a pair of gloves.

No water??

Your FAK is oriented to small injuries. Maybe it's better to also add a triangulair-bandage, some gauze-pads and a ABD-pad.

Fire-starting: Those BIC's are good, but also add a redundant way to start a fire: matches, fire-steel, spark-lite.......

Do also carry a EDC, PSK to suppliment your BOB?

That sounds pretty nice. As always we like pictures.

I would suggest adding a flint/steel and freznel magnifier card (almost no room taken on either) to help flesh out the firestarting capabilities. Also either wetfire or PJ/CottonBall tinder.

I would put in an emergency style flashlight like the Photon, make sure your canteen is full always (rotate and clean periodically), toss in a small fishing kit (almost no space), a compass, and maybe beef up your FAK just a touch.

All suggestions meant to be tiny, but useful. Thanks for sharing!

see in the faq about picture posting: http://www.equipped.org/ubbthreads/faq_english.php?Cat=#image

First of all, what is you BOB suppose to do and what terrain /area do you life? That will have a serious effect on the contents of your kit.

Kit does not include a whistle. I did spot a mirror, is it a signal mirror?

Whats a foon?

No redundancy in firelighting. If one bic fails, because of non machanical failure, the other one will probably suffer from the same problem. Add something like matches, ferrosium rod, etc.

Add some more firelighting tinder/material. Fuel tablets only provide limited firestarting options.

Add gloves.

Toothbrush and paste is something to consider.

In reply to Jim's post, I did see water purification tabs in the kit list.

I like Jim's saw idea too. Maybe check out a Pocket Chainsaw. It sounds like you've fit a lot of stuff into a Proteus, so I don't know if the PC would fit, but it may be worth checking into. I've used a wire saw once, and it was not reliable...then again, maybe I had a bad one.

I agree with others...fire, fire, fire. In addition to considering Wetfire and cotton balls infused with petroleum jelly, you may want to consider TinderQuik. Very compact, very lightweight and no chemicals to break down. Better yet, pack some Wetfire AND TinderQuik!

With all the things you've listed, there may not be room, but I'm wondering if you could fit an AMK Heatsheet in there along with some paracord...maybe? Might consider and emergency poncho for unexpected rain...but I'm just thinking of that because it's raining here today. Still, they don't take up much room either. But in something like the Proteus...space may be at a premium.

I really like the Proteus. I use mine mostly for my EDC gear when I don't have cargo pockets. Great bag...and great kit you put together. But I agree...I want to see some pictures!

Then again, that's hippocritical of me to say...I've got well over 400 posts, and I've never posted a picture of any of my kits

Guess I'll have to take my own advice one of these days!

In some places a spork or foon is the same thing... But I was taught differently.

A spork is the spoon/fork combo that is a spoon with tines... like you get at a Taco Bell.

A foon is a spoon/fork combo with a spoon at one end and a fork on the other.
