Were would you take old paint and used motor oil? That's generally a good place to start.
Do you have a curb side trash pick up, or do you take your trash to the dump yourself? If the later, ask them on your next trash run. If the former, call the provider (either contracted or municipal). They should be able to tell you. Also check your phone book for recyclers, not sure how they'd be listed in a canadian directory. And if that doesn't work, your provincial enviromental agency should be able to give you a list of providers.
Dont' be suprised if they charge you a few dollars for this. It's fair- there are capacitors in monitors that I won't handle, period. Taking one apart, I'd want to be paid well.
I know, it sounds like a lot. Don't worry, this is one monitor. Last summer, I had to dispose of four TONS dead and dated computers for an agency that had been storing them on site. That was fun- I'm just glad I didn't have to sign the check.
