The Washington Post reports that a 20-year college student single-handedly reviewed and improved on the government’s Ready.gov website…the new, improved version being called ReallyReady.org. Well, no kidding. Anyone, college student or not, can do a better job than those who must labor under a dozen layers of highly politicized, clueless management. That is true of any large organization, government or private.

It reminds me of the story of the creation of the IBM PC a generation ago. IBM executives back then had the great good sense to realize that they could not, as a company, create something so new and innovative. So instead they appointed a single man (I forget the name), and gave him carte blanche to create the desired end result (to include hand-picking his team). It is the power of the individual.

Being a small cog in a very big machine, I guess I'm just jealous.
