Does anybody know if Maglite has the new Mini Maglite 2-AA in the market already?. If so where can I get it?.

Why would you want one? There are a lot of other choices out ther besides Mag. Target generally has a very good selection of LED lights in stock. Check out the Dorcy and Innova lights. If you want the ultimate, check out Fenix, but it is probably not available locally.

FWIW: Maglite website says "still working on it". My one hope for Magled is that they'll offer their lights in some case color other than black. Damn, I hate black flashlights. I'd like to pick up a Fenix L2P, but...

Maglite was the standard of the industry when there were no LEDs. I am curious to know if they live up to their reputation when they come out with the new LEDs. Thank you for the responses.

Their reputation is being cheap and sturdy. That is really all that they have going for them -- a very thick chunk of aluminum at a low price.
There are a LOT of lights that are brighter and smaller. A few are also as tough or tougher. But you will pay more.
My own personal opinion is that Mag employs more lawyers than they do engineers. Up until recently, the only new thing that they could make was law suits against smaller manufacturers. For that reason alone I will avoid them from now on.

If you don't by products from companies that are sue happy then you won't be buying many products. Microsoft, AMD, Intel, all the car companies, etc all sue more than design.
I still like a buy mags, they are a decent product for the price, I've bought a few other brands from time to time but the mags are the only ones that last unless you go really high end like surefire and such.

I just bought two Terralux TLE-5 upgrades for my AA Maglites. They have a 1W Luxeon LED and are pretty bright.
I too am waiting eagerly for Mag's LED offerings, but it might be a while before they make it to New Zealand.

I'm still not impressed with the brightness of LED's. My Arc AAA wasn't bright enough to use inside the tent a couple weekends ago so I had to pull out a brighter lite.

I just recieved my P1 from Fenix, incredibly small, extremely bright light. It runs on one C123 cell. It would blow an Arc AAA away. I also picked up Brinkman 3W LED from Target for my Dad. Very nice light running on 3 AAA. Good throw with a nice smooth flood. Dorcy also makes a decent 1W LED running 3 AAA. Have a nice day :-)

Nite Ize L.E.D. Upgrade:
Well, for only $4.92 at Wally World, this more than tripled the brightness and area coverage of my AA Mini Maglite, so I would say it was worth it. It DOES make it more of a FLOOD light instead of a SPOT light though, which is okay for me. Now only if these other claims prove to be true:
*Extends battery life 4X longer *10 year lamp life (100,000 hours continous use) *Dependable: Shock resistant!
