Anybody like to measure theirs? I just ordered one and it would be nice if it could fit diagonally in my BCB-style tin. I know the blade length is 3.25" so I'm not going to hold my breath, but it would be nice to know for sure before I tear apart my oh-so-carefully packed PSK.

With sheath, 7.5 inches.

Without, just a bit over 6.75 inches.

Drats. It looks like it will be about 3/4" too long then. Thanks for the info!

Not being familiar with this knife, but having heard the term "neck knife", it strikes me as being a little large for that purpose. I would envision a neck knife being more on the lines of 3" overall, something that would comfortably hang around the neck. Am I missing something?

I too have yet to actually hold one, but I would think that weight might affect comfort more than overall size. They say the Necker weighs 2.5 oz which doesn't sound too bad. I probably won't end up wearing it around my neck anyway but we'll have to see about that. A 3" OAL knife would just be too small to be very useful, at least for me.

I didn't measure mine. latvija's measurements sound correct.

I keep mine attached to my left packstrap, handle down, so I can easily access it if I need it. It is a nice emergency knife, but if you PLAN on doing some cutting I'd opt for something different. The problem for me is the handle. Not really a problem, just an annoyance. The skeleton handle is too short and thin for comfortable and secure grasp (and I have small hands). Mostly it's the short part - the thinness not so much. It's a three-finger hold, your fourth finger does not figure into the hold. This is fine for cutting food and other lightweight or emergency duties, but it's not something you'd want to do any chopping with.

That being said, it's perfect for what I bought it for, which was quick/emergency access while hiking/backpacking. I can't say I've every really NEEDED emergency access while hiking, but the knife is so darn cute I just had to come up with an imaginary use for it so I could justify buying it! The Necker is high quality, solidly built, lightweight, very flat - even with it's sheath (which is strong and secure). It is a specialty knife, not a general purpose one.

I EDC a Becker Necker as a belt knife. The bottle opener was a bit of an annoyance and I never used it, so I filled that part with epoxy. Then I put a Scout fire stick (what is it called??) in the remaining holes (does not fit well) and wrapped it with the covering of paracord.

It has become a very useful tool for me. The handle takes some getting used to, but in the long run it has been quite an asset. Light, small, sharp and it seems PHRASECENSOREDPOSTERSHOULDKNOWBETTER. friendly. Nobody has yet commented on the knife on my belt.

That sounds like a loaded question

That's uncomfortably close to my reasoning as well.
But I've always wanted one, and considering the state Camillus is in I figured I'd better get one while I could.

If you plan on using it with a Ferro rod to start fires your need to sand the epoxy coating off the back of the knife blade down to bear steel. I took the epoxy coating down to a smooth finish on the blade as well that way it will not collect dirt bacteria etc....
I know the handle is short but it is a rugged little knife that will do any thing a 8 inch Buck knife will do.
cheers
