I think Herrington's calls it a survival module. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, I know, but this LOOKS cool, doesn't it? <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

From a fun stuff point of view? <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Haha ya that does look cool. That's the kind of thing that I dont want to buy for fear that its junk but I would sure like to convince someone else to buy it and review it so I know if I want one or not <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Its pretty neat, from a fun point of view, and I've seen a few things similar on the market like this with radios, hank crank power, watches, compasses, etc.. I only have not bought one for one simple reason: If one feature breaks, how is it replaced, buy a whole new unit?

I wonder what effect batteries have on compasses, if any?

Sorry...... Can't...... help...... myself....... apologizing..... in advance.....

<img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Lots of guys would probably buy it because it looks like a remote control. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> IOW... a remote remote. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

It's more like a conversation piece you'd leave on your desk at work.

Kinda like the whistle, temp, compass, mag. glass combo at wal-mart for $6, just with a light. That's one advantage of seeing one before you buy it, Half the compasses are off, so you take a good compass next to it and see if they both point in the same direction. Then you can buy the "cheap" combo item. I have several of them as they make pretty good back-up redundency items.

Or you give the cheap one to the schlub standing next to you who is unprepared but who could "relieve" you of yours because he outweighs you by 100 pounds (I'm 130 soaking wet).
