Ok. From everything I read (about 30 hours worth) we have:

1. Tabacco Tin
2. Altoid Tins
3. Band-Aid Boxes
4. PDA Pouches

What do you carry and why? Pictures helpful

For hiking, I use an Altoids tin. But in urban settings, I don't like the feel of that hard case in my pocket. For "around-town minimum", I just use a keyring with things attached.

For "general around-town" I found this one at Target for $3.99

http://www.caselogic.com/compact_camera_case/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=57063

It's a soft case and fits in the pocket like a fat wallet. OK, pretty darn fat for a wallet, but it works well for me when wearing jeans. Just don't overstuff the thing and it sits nicely in a front pocket.

I carry a Ritter PSP (and a growing number of other items) in a Spec Ops Mini Pocket Organizer. This is for easy pocket transfers. It rides in a cargo pocket, or Max Proteus if no cargo pockets are available

Actually, I carry another Spec Ops mini with EDC items in the cargo pocket on the other side...Space Pen, Rite in Rain pad, nail clippers, flash drive, etc.

I still want to build kits in an Altoids tin, tobacco tin and a Witz See It Safe...just for fun

A Whitman's Sampler candy tin. It's just a little bit bigger than an Altoids tin. It's wrapped with a few feet of paracord, and then overwrapped with a couple lengths of velcro tape.

I recently put my PSK contents (and added a signal mirror) into a BCB combat survival tin. (tossed out the original BCB kit contents).
That tin is about the same size as a tabacco tin, and it's perfect for me.

I use one of these from Penrith. It's about the perfect size for my outdoor gear. Shipping from the UK about doubled the price though. I heard a rumor last year that there would be a US distributor but nothing since then.

That's good news. I love mine. The price is still a little steep but worth it IMO. Looks like they are limiting quantities though so get 'em while you can: link.

I have been using a Q-tip container which has got to be around the lightest option. I bought a Witz container to try out but have not yet.

Big white tool box that goes across the bed of my truck. Carries enough for four for 72+ hours. Food, water, shelter etc.

I use Aloksaks, they are plastic see-through bags similar to Zip-Locs but they are sturdier, and are waterproof/airproof (certified by the Navy to be waterproof to 200 feet).

I trust those for my wilderness PSK used for hiking and search & rescue operations.

If you need something stronger, I would go with Lock N' Lock containers available in various sizes. They are strong, waterproof and cheaper than Otter boxes or Pelican cases.
