Never as a Father have I been so proud, my 10yo daughter started her first fire tonight with the flint off a mag bar, and kept it going for a good 5 minn.
I think I was mor excited then she was when she got the pj soked cotten ball to light after the third strike.

I look forword to them ( two daughters) dateing like I want to be poked with a sharp stick. But I am preping for that too.
I have a brick sitting by the door for the first guy that pulls in the drive and honks his horn, figure that it will do a good job on his winsheild, and when he comes in the house I plan on telling him "what ever you do to her I will do to you"
I remember once long ago when I picked a girl up her dad was acting like he was cleaning his gun, I think I will revise that one and just point it at them and tell them to have fun

Sharpening sword until you can toss a piece of paper into the air and cut it from the draw is even more impressive. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

My 15 yr old daughter is happy to tell the boys sniffing around to fear her Dad. That doesn't hurt my feelings one bit, I was a teen aged boy once and know what's on their mind. I trust my daughter to a large degree, though not completely so as a parent, I'm nosey and intimidating.

So YOUR the guy...

The WHITEST I've ever seen a guy go was when a friends B-I-L's daughter was being picked up for a "first date" (new guy)

My friend, His B-I-L and I had just come back from the trap range. Not wanting to make a mess in the kitchen, we were sitting on the front porch with the shotguns, field stripping and detail cleaning them. We were not even thinking about it. My friend had just finished reassembling is Mossberg 500 when the guy started walking up the porch, and he racked the slide to check the gun - poor kid went GHOST white. We ended up apologizing, and having a GOOD chuckle - turned out to be a nice kid, but not right for the daughter. We looked like a bunch of "well armed rednecks" right then. 5 shotguns and 2 pistols sitting on the table in various levels of assembly

Lance, you're gonna have to deal with the horrors of girl puberty first. I would never want to get back on that rollercoaster. With luck, your daughters won't hate you before they start dating (no fault of yours or even theirs, it's just hormones), and will quickly go through the regrettable phase of doing things just to [censored] off daddy.

Teach them the sad statistics and effects of unwanted pregnancy and STDs, and don't be afraid to tell them how you really just hope for the best for them. One of the things that stuck with me was when my dad admitted regretting some of the things he did in his youth and was so grateful - and proud - that I didn't make the same choices. It's easy to think you can scare away a boy's desires, but girls WILL want the same thing, too.

Just as dads must teach your sons to become men, you must teach your daughters to become ladies.

KR20, a member here, has a young daughter and he has already enlisted my service chaprone when she begins dating. He says the shotgun is optional.

"Dad, why is Uncle Alan everywhere I go when I am on a date?"
