The question always seems to be, what to put in an FAK. I usually lean toward what I have needed over what I might need. So, what have folks needed and used recently?

Last weekend at my parents' house, I was toe-nailing ballisters on the deck I rebuilt... Anticeptic ointment, standard band-aid, medical tape to keep the bandaid from falling off from sweat. I had cleaned it out in the sink with soap and tap water, but would have used wound wipes and/or hand sanitizer.

Re: recent thread, I had a tetanus shot last fall.

Triple antibiotic & bandaid at son's baseball game on Thur. night. I needed the medical tape because it kept falling off due to sweat. I see the other posts where others were better prepared - I have tape in larger FAK but didn't have that with me - that will change.

I replaced it when I got home. You just never know when you could need it again.

The last thing I used was 2 packages of ketchup( Old Turkish remedy), for a bee sting. It works better than anything I've found. Without it, my eyes would swell shut. And yes I did replace it immediately. I keep it in my glove box and in my purse as well. The older it gets , the better it works so I don't have to change it out.

Used 2 bandaids out of my wallet today after slicing open my finger on a piece of paper.

The last time I used my FAK, I used 4 gauze pads and duct tape.

All supplies were replaced ASAP.

Honestly? The last thing I used in my PMK was the ear plugs. Someone's little darling wouldn't stop crying and it was on a bus.

I had an insect bite so I used some After-Bite, it is ammonia. It neutralizes the insect poison. It stopped itching after I put some on. When I go camping I am mostly handing out anti-histamine, Band-Aids and Burn-Jel for my boys.

The last time I used my FAK came about as a result of lending my leatherman squirt P4 to someone who "needed a knife or scissors". The person accomplished the task for which the knife was requested -- but in doing so managed to get a cut on the middle finger. I then proceeded to provide some antibiotic ointment and a large band-aid from my FAK.

The moral of the story is "no good deed goes unpunished". Afterward I had to thoroughly clean off the blood from the blade of my squirt P-4.

Bandaids and ointment.......for a wound. I keep hemostats in there and used them to sew a tear in cargo pants last time though.

1” fabric plasters (Band-Aids), Ibuprofen, Digital thermometer w/sterile sleeves, Meclizine (Antivert, Bonine) in about that order. I consider my first aid kit (FAK) as more of a medical kit.

BurnJel. Real bad sunburn on my friend with distal edema of the ankle... She used spf 30 lotion but must have missed the spot. Worked like a charm.

Her comment to me was "I didn't think it (the blade on my Leatherman Squirt P4) would be that sharp".
