Must be the humidity...I noticed tonight I have a bit of rust forming on my M2. Think it's possible do a touch up sharpening to remove it? Or what else will take care of it? Guess I'll have to pay more attention!

Rust on the bare cutting edge? Yeah, just sharpen it. If it's a coated blade, and you are rusting through the coating, lots of wd40 or 3-in-1 oil and a stiff toothbrush, along with elbow grease. And kiss the coating good bye.

If you treated the edge of the knife with the Sentry Solutions Tuf-Cloth that should have come with your knife, it shouldn't rust simply from humidity. In any case, certainly sharpening would remove the rust. However, if it is just a light surface rust, you can try removing it with a pencil eraser, then treat with the Tuf-Cloth. If you live in very high humidity conditions and it continues to be a problem you may want to try Marine Tuf-Cloth.

I've been using Break Free, and left the blade with a coating of it last night after I sharpened it. Got everything off except for a bit near the tip. The Break Free says that it loosens corrosion, so I'm hoping that last little bit will go too. I'm going to keep an eye on it and get the Tuf Cloth out!

If you are going to use the knife for food preparation you might want to use a little cooking oil in place of chemicals. I assume I am going to use my survival knife for food in some fashion. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
