I made this new survival kit with the following items.<br>1.empty tic tac container<br>2.ranger Rick dog tag fire starter (assembled and stuffed with cotton tinder, also wrapped with dental floss)<br>3.lots of dental floss ,fishing line and snare wire<br>4. Nato 15mm compass<br>5.(10) water proof matches<br>6.assorted fishing hooks(8)<br>7.sinkers(10)<br>8.water purification tablets (20)<br>9. Condom<br>10.2 single edge razor blades<br>11. Dog tag signal mirror from ranger Rick (after I received this I polished it more then it was and wrapped fishing line around it.<br>12. Sparklite tinder tabs<br> First thing I did was take the condom and double it over and twist it (used dental floss to keep it from untwisting) wrapped it with duct tape and with fishing line secured it to the short side of the tic tac container. Next I added the dog tag signal mirror to the wide side of the tic tac container with some more fishing line/snare wire/dental floss. Now wrap the rest of the dental floss/ snare wire/ fishing line around the container and secure it with some tape or glue. Take the fire starter and put it upside down in the top part of the tic tac container lid and stuff some tinder tab in the open spot by the fire starter. Now fill the container with the rest of the supplies and place the lid back on and you have a decent kit with the bare essentials for your survival that’s low profile and slipped into a pocket. I have also fashioned a key attachment to the container by tying a length of fishing line to a swivel and securing it to the container itself. <br> I will post pictures of the steps of making the kit and the final product once I get my web cam fixed.<br>Let me know what you think<br> Tom

Excellent!<br>I similar box for a kit is the sparkite box. This is also ideal for holding, er, a sparklite!

Add a match striker and a needle you can use with the floss.<br>Could a P-38 can-opener be taped down one side?<br>Otherwise you seem to have a neat kit to cover the basics.

Cool! Can't wait for the pic's. Seems quite minimalist. OTOH, in an urban environment (where I spend most of my time), the full blown wilderness PSK seems overkill. Looks as if you have a decent list of gear there. <br><br>Notably missing:<br>1) strong cord - paracord would probably be too bulky to add sufficient length to be worth it - perhaps this kit would be good for spectra cord.<br><br>2) saw - This is one of the more useful things in the PSK even in an urban environ. In a forested wilderness environ the saw is a key part of expedient shelter construction and fuel gathering.<br><br>Does the tape actually contact the condom? If so I doubt that the condom would still be useful once you removed the tape.<br>How do you contain your purification tablets?<br><br><br>

I dont have any pics yet because my web cam isnt working right now but my friend will be over this weekend to fix it and as soon as it is fixed i will post the pics.

I wrapped dental floss around the condom for this purpose and to keep the condom from unraveling and also to semi protect it from some pokes or falls. The tape sticks very well to the floss.<br>Tom

Nicely done! Thanks for the inspiration. I've been taking my psk around in a small fanny pack to see how it feels-- it's a bit bulky with the addition of a few pkgs of tea and a couple of power bars. I realized that I have to develop an urban PSK which doesn't need to be as complete or as big. Your's looks like it will fit into a pager case. <br><br>look at my post for a pager case I love
