Half Life 2: Survivor

Some screen shots on how to catch birds (with a firearm), urban evasion techniques and 4-wheeling in rivers!

Oh great, another video game that will lure my husband away from his more pressing duties - namely me! When they eventually bring a version of it to the PC I may never see him again.....

I prefer the survival-type games and movies that involve zombies, like the "Silent Hill" series. And everyone should see "Shaun of the Dead" sometime.

Video games. The cheap pretenders to the throne of gaming. Buttons, bah! Joysticks, bah! Computer generated graphics, bah! Give me a thinking mans escapistic game and my bag of dice.

I'd rather drop my party in the middle of an unknown jungle with hangovers, the contents of thier pockets, and the shadow something that just flew over that was either a very big bird or a very small dragon. Roll Intelligence- the werewolf is at a +3 for allergies.

Actually, survival got me into RPGs- "what do I do if this happens" is what we do here. OK, add a slightly different persona, maybe different tech level, and some dice to stand in for Murphy.

And I've come full circle- when I run a modern or WWII era campaign, I bestow a boon to those players who bring me the list of thier characters' PSK. If they BUILD thier character's PSK, it's a bigger reward, particularly if I know they are now thinking. I swear half my regular table lurks here these days, and probably 70% of them either have BOB or at least a box of stuff to grab and go if the Murphy Factor is high enough. And very few did that before they got to see how it works in simulation.

Before I read this post, I thought Lance was talking about the OTHER RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade), and was thinking "MAN, that is one hard corps Dude" .

A little oomphy for my taste, but if you have really well armed neighbors, I give the newish 100mm thermobaric warhead for the RPG-7 halfway decent odds against almost anything with wheels or tracks.

Assuming the Russians fixed the bugs in it. Otherwise, you to can be at ground zero for a tactical FAE.

I hear you. What I wouldn't give for just one weekend of rolling my old D&D (2nd Ed.) bones again... Everytime I'm in the wilderness I'm secretly hoping to be attacked by a band of Hobgoblins. Alas, all I ever encounter are alligators, giant spiders, wild hogs, copperheads, angry bulls and occasionaly raging floods.

Well, if there is ever a way for us to have conference, I might be convinced to run something. Don't know if I can manage a table that big, but it's worth a shot.
