DeLorme has a GPS software and tracker here that can be used in conjunction with a lap-top for larger viewing screen while traveling. Can anyone tell me how this system rates with other manufacturers set-ups? We want this specifically for in vehicle GPS maps of topography, off-road and back-roads traveling. Thank you

I have used Delorme Topo USA 5.0 in excess with great success and just bought 6.0 and find it an improvement over 5.0. I have never used Delorme’s GPS receiver but I have used the software with a Garmin and Pharos Receiver and the program worked perfectly.

I will warn you that the program does take some time to learn properly and get full function out of it. Once mastered it can be an extraordinarily useful tool. Its biggest benefit to me is printing custom topo maps and being able to add data to those maps that I collected with my GPS.
