Anyone know where you can purchase the stainless steel billy cans similar to what Ray Mears sells at his site?

I know this is not Ray's site but has a good picture of Billy Can

Thanks

You can buy stainless steel kitchen tool containers for less than $10 at Walmart and other places. No lid or handle, but they're cheap.

I tried once to deal directly with the manufacturer. Very nice folks in Thailand. The pots were very affordable, the shipping wasn't! I would have had to buy a minimum of 4 cases and they would go air freight. I ended up buying from the Survival School in the UK. Johnny Crockett was very helpful and the shipping was fair. They were much less than RM, still way expensive.
One thing I don't like about them, they are built like a tank, very sturdy. If you are planning on packing these on your back, that means heavy!

Here is another similar option, much less expensive. Lighter weight too.

SunDog Outfitters carries SS Zebra billy cans in various sizes, decent prices, excellent feedback rate at eBay:

Warning Question from the Ignorant:

What is a billy can? How is it different from a pot with a lid and a handle?

This set will nest. The cup also can be used as a warmer on top of the boiler. The seperate lid will fit both containers.

Billy is primarily an Australian term.

Other places use it too, but yeah it's just a pot with a lid and a handle.

Thanks Susan, you're my hero! I just bought another for half what it cost me for the first one! Cheers!

I personally believe that hoping to use aluminum foil to boil water or cook food more than in a one time use is pretty much a false hope. Foil is usually included in our typical PSKs but has actual limited use, I believe. Holes develop very quickly from folding and refolding it. One of the most useful items we can have in a larger sized pouch size kit or even in the BOB should be something like a billy pot. A billy can be put directly on any kind of stove. It can be hung from a piece of wire over a fire to boil water or boil and cook food. It is a great way to collect water from most water sources. You can eat out of it and even dig with it. As far as hardware is concerned in the survival kit, a sturdy pot is almost as important as a good knife. Just my opinion!
