A new promo-item is popping up around here.
It's not for sale in shops. It's only available as a promo gift (as far as I know).

It sounds like a mini-fog horn on boats. It's said to produce 120 db of sound.
Because of its size (bigger), it's no replacement for a whistle.
It could find it's place in a bob.

http://www.minihorn.com/

Maybe you could pick some up as a gift (if they're available over there), try it, and stock it in you bob.

Almost to good to be true: something usefull for free.

Or even better:
ETS could sell them for profit with their logo on it to support the site? That is, if they are any good. Maybe it could be tested by Doug in the "sound off" section?

I have no connection with the firm of the minihorn.

Hope someone finds it usefull.

greets,
tranx

airhorns have ofocrse another disadvantage. The run on compressed gas/air. Which means they will be useless after a short while.

Hey, that's pretty cool. It DOESN'T use a compressed air source, you just blow in it and get 120 dB out. It looks like you could also store emergency items in it.

Looks like it might be possible to make one. I'm thinking balloons and 35mm film container.

Sorry it took so long to answer (2 weeks of vacation).

I haven't been able to lay hands on one (only read an article in a local newspaper & handled one for about 2 min.)

They are bigger than a 35 mm canister and open at the bottom in the middle (double wall). The "double wall" is closed at the bottom (bottom= away from balloon)

The innermost wall extends higher than the outside walls.
I think the top-ring (which clasps the balloon to the "cup") only clasps the balloon between the outer rim/wall of the "cup" and leaves the inner ring of the cup free.

look at pictures on the website in the "pimp it" section.

underneath is a cross section of the thing. I had to include it as "code" to keep the spacing more or less accurate.

If I am wrong somewhere, it's because I could only briefly handle the thing.

<pre><font class="small">code:</font><hr> ___ ____

A whole lot of succes whit your home made version. Keep us up to date and maybe post pictures of the results?
