Typing this from the fire house, at the command center. Water is absurdly high, it's been a busy, focused, efficient operation.
Small video on
www.ubefire.comI'm really tired, so I'll be short.
This is our third major flood in less than 3 years. Most people were still cleaning up from the last flood (April 2005) when this one hit.
As a company, we're much more preparred for this operation than previously. We set up command (sans ham radio operators this time), got the evacuation done and the area secured in about 24 hours. The water came up (and remains up) and now we're savign energy and awaiting the end of this flood.
I have much to tell about this one, and the value of the preplan and the brigadoon concept working well.
More when I rest.
