The Stay Alive game on ETS is showing its age and it isn't aging gracefully. http://www.equipped.org/stayalive/index.html

While quite popular, it will only run on IE and Opera, and won't even run perfectly on those. We can't even get a notice that it only runs on IE and Opera to show up on the other browsers. If there's anyone here who is a Javascript wiz and would like to take a shot at this, I'd certainly appreciate it. Please email me if you're interested in helping.

Thanks,

The initial page comes up on Mozilla 1.0.7. The links to the "TRAINING" section appear not to exist on the server at all. Maybe that's the problem you're talking about. I don't have IE here to test. I'd love to help, but I'm in the middle of a product delivery schedule (really short one I might add).

The Training section missing is part of the problem, but if you had IE you'd see a very different presentation and lots of other stuff that works that is missing or dead.

Well, I messed with the page a bit in both IE and Firefox. In Firefox, a cool flash intro loads, but links to the wrong urls. Simply changing the urls in the flash to the ones that the IE page uses should fix it.

In IE, a non-flash intro page loads that has some bugs but seems to link properly to the training/game. Does this page really need any javascript? Simple hyperlinks would be quick, easy, and compatable, and would look almost the same.

The game itself seems to work fine in both IE and Firefox (I coppied the url of the start of the game into firefox, http://www.equipped.org/stayalive/cgi-bin/sim/index.html) What, if any problems, have you run into in the game itself?

Are there any other issues that I should look into or problems I missed? I am no web designer, but I know a little very basic html/javascript.

Noah,

Don't need no steenk'in Javscript. <g> Just would like everything to work in any modern browser. Email me and include a phone number and good time to call and perhaps we can sort it out, if you'd be willing.

Thanks.

Thanks a bunch to Craig Adams and Noah Silverman who combined to slay the dragons that bedeviled this module. It appears that the Stay Alive Game will now work with all the modern browsers.

I sincerely appreciate the assistance.

It was no problem at all! I had fun and learned a little too. Always glad to help a site that I have gotten so much good information out of. Thanks to Craig as well!
