Does anyone have suggestions regarding a good portable shortwave receive (it would be nice if it received the NOAA and weather advisory channels, too.)

I'd like to spend under $100, but can spend more if there is a good reason.
The link below (from Radio Netherlands) has a great tool for selecting a short wave receiver. There is no simple answer because it depends on what is most important to you. Their ratings and reviews are acurate and unbaised. You should be able to pick the radio that best needs your needs here.

http://www.rnw.nl/realradio/rx_current.html

-- Dr Jim
