Gee, I never equip anybody with anything they don't know how to use, where did you ever get that idea? Always make sure they know how to use it first, otherwise I follow the bare minimum you wisely list, which is pretty much what she already has had in her car. This isn't an overnight project for me, its an ongoing (if never-ending) process.

No argument's there mate. Passing a basic firearms course might be a requirement before she can have a concealed carry permit - I hope.

I'd strongly suggest a "Call Police" sign, either the old-fashioned fluorescent orange kind, or this new-fangled design: http://www.highwayhelp.org/index.htmAlex

I suggested a LadySmith because most Ladies have smaller hands than us Gorrilla Gripped He-man types. And a Mag-Safe won't go through the target. At close ranges everything else will.

She is not into survival thinking and is an indoor person. I get your meaning. I too am an indoors kind of person, but I understand survival thinking. I like filtered air, fluorescent lighting, computer screens, digital cable, and air conditioning. I also understand the need to know what to do when things go wrong. -- Craig

Don't mean to get way off topic, so I'll just leave it at this, Leigh: Ladysmiths are just decorated J-frame Smiths for aesthetic appeal to go along with their firepower. Belly guns like that are not as easy to control for little ladies also. Magsafes aren't the only thing that won't go thru the target, especially from a snub nose's lower velocity it can vary from load to load. I've used .44 Special loads nearly 20 years ago that wouldn't even crack a concrete block at 10 ft. It was a hollowpoint copper cone with a plastic wad backing it up made for close up defense. It actually put two holes in your target at that range, one from the light slug, another from the plastic. Shot them from a Charter Bulldog 2 1/2 inch barrel.

Yes I have heared of them. I was merely thinking of the most likely scenario. Zero feet engagement against a Goblin/Wannabe Rapist with a friendly right behind him. At that point penetration become an issue. Deepest a Mag-Safe goes at point blank is 6-9". That's why it's my first choice.

Leigh, I'm shocked! You are a good British subject, you shouldn't even know about these things! <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

That Good British Subject is living in a country in which the criminal elements are increasing using firearms, murdering ordinary decent citizens, receiving derisory sentence's for their crimes and in which the Political elements (another bunch of criminals) are determined to disarm ODC's like myself. That's the shocking bit, mate.
