I've been using one for a while now. I found a fairly small very sturdy two piece one at Target a while ago. About 1.75-2 altoid tins in volume. It works great.

I have been toying around with the idea of using an eyeglass case. I picked up a couple of thin, hinged, very hard plastic glass cases from a local shop. I would guess volume is about 2-2.5 altoids tins. They fit really nicely in the pocket. On advantage would be that you could store your spectra cord inside and the case would not arouse much interest or suspicion if someone else would happen to see it.

A soap dish wouldn't be too bad. A couple of years ago, I had a plastic telescoping style container. It was about 4 times the size of an Altoids tin, but it was flask shaped so that it fit in a back pocket or a cargo pocket of a pair of combat pants quite nicely.

You can buy these from a company up here in Canada. It's called Coghlan's. They sell just the containers or you can buy the container with a first aid kit inside. The two ends fit together quite nicely, although not waterproof without a little help from the Handyman's Secret Weapon, Duct Tape. They telescope as well, thereby allowing you to stuff a little 'extra' in if you need it.

Unfortunately, I misplaced it when I was on tour in Bosnia in 2000. I have now switched to the round Penaten tins.

Ironbird
