Tonight, after their new show I Shouldn't Be Alive, there was a new show I hadn't seen before. It was called Lost in the Wild, and Cody Lundin was the featured guest survival instructor, They took four regular people, limited their gear to what a 'normal' dayhiker would carry, and sent 'em off into the high desert of Arizona with Cody as their guide.
Pretty decent, but one of the city dudes(the blonde one) really irked me. If not for Cody, he would've led the group in a futile effort to get back to their car. The guy was just full of ego and was convinced that simply following the canyon back up(during rainy season) he could lead them to safety.
What really bothered me was his attitude at the end, as if he'd survived the ordeal based on his own abilities. In reality he was suffering from dehydration, fatigue and heatstroke so bad he could barely stay standing.
A good show, especially for novice hikers. It showed how easy it was to get lost, even just a couple miles from your car(as they were). Also emphasized the importance of water, and the dangers of hypothermia even in the desert.

I wonder if the guy is a "ringer" or if the shows organisers are deliberately picking people who's ego's are bigger than their brains?

I would like to have seen that show. I really like Cody Lundin.
Oh well... It's the Discovery Channel. They'll show it again... A bazillion times... LOL
I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks for the heads up, archer!

Lost in the Wild: High Desert
On my DVR it just came up as "Lost in the Wild". You can go to discovery.com and do a search for the show on the schedule.
I just have to watch it again to get the name of his school...

I did a TiVo search last night and I could not find it. Bummer. I would have liked to have seen it.

Yeah, looks like it won't be on for a while. I could not find it either. I did a Google search, and it appears it was 1 of 2 Pilot episodes (the other being "Nova Scotia"). I had to make sure it was Discovery Channel, because I watch National Geographic too, and they have similar shows.
