I have the solution and you saw it here first!
I tested a BCB wire saw of my own with some small diameter tygon tubing I bought. The tubing was purchased at Home Depot sold as lawnmower fuel line, 24". I imagine this is the same diameter as supplied with Ranger Rick's concoction. It is adequate to just feed the saw into the tubing, bend over the exposed wire saw on both ends and crimp it slightly 1 to 2 inches from both ends. Feed the free end of the saw back into the tubing so that 1 to 2 inches of the free end is in there. Do this with both sides. I did this and it held over 60 lbs! (It didn't fail, I gave up!) Connect the two loops with a short lenght of ball chain and suspend your goodies from the middle. In this case, you can save that valuable tubing for some other use.
I have to say that Ranger Rick's suggestion to sacrifice the tubing to get the saw to work is a pretty lousy solution and runs counter to survival philosophy of conservation of resources. I don't know if my expedient solution will be pressed in to service carrying alot of stuff, but it will probably be my new way to carry a neck knife. Andy
