Anecdotal data suggests that it SHOULD shorten the couse of infection. It is unlikely to Prevent infection. "Bird" (avian) flu, strain H5N1 influenza is a virus, not a bacteria - so antibiotics will be of no use in treating it, unless to treat secondary infections in a "rundown" host.
