You might get some good ideas from the Army or Air Force SERE manual. I know there are public versions available from places like Barnes and Noble. At one point, I think I saw it online, I'll see if I can find it again. They go beyond the usual survival info, and cover escape and evasion. Even better if you can get a copy of the services version of the manual that isn't sanitized to make it PC.
