So I was at home this Saturday pulling old barbed wire fence while my wife and son went out grocery shopping. When they got back my wife mentioned that we needed to go to the neighbors garage sale because they were selling kids toys. I don't care for garage sales but I begrudgingly went along.

Arriving at the garage sale I spotted an external framed backback. I've been looking for one for a while but hadn't made up my mind as to brand and features so I thought, what the heck it has Cabelas on it so it has to be somewhat good quality and its twenty bucks. When I picked it up DAMN it has either a heavy backpack or it had stuff in it. I mentioned this when I bought it and the lady at the sale said "Yep, theres a bunch of crap in it".

So I got home and here is a list of what my $20.00 bought

Not too shabby for twenty bucks. I have a sneaking suspicion that this belongs to the ex or soon to be ex husband as I don't know any guy who would let gear like this go.

A kid I worked with told me he bought a samauri sword at a garage sale for $25. Then he was curious about it and took it to an antique dealer. Turns out it was a WW II era sword. An authentic Japanese military sword, for $25.

I keep going to garage sales in hopes of finding treasures like that...so far I haven't been quite as lucky as my friend and you <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

That's why I yardsale. I can hear it now, some day in the future, the as-yet-unlocated Mrs Raven will say "Hon, not another yardsale. That will make 18 this morning."

I'm still waiting to find the elderly lady with the "old Chevy" in the garage that turns out to be a '57 Vette.

A friend of mine found the family that had the "junk" removed from their basement. One piece of the junk was an intact 1937 Indian motorcycle in quite good restorable condition. He bought it for $75.
