For coloring things that you might drop in the wild. First remember the natural colors. While reds, oranges and yellows might seem fine sitting in your living room as high visibility. In the fall many of the leaves on the ground are those colors.Even the neon colors will tend to blend in. And you definately want to forget green.
What I have foud that works because it is not a real natural ground color are blues especially the brighter hues. There are sonme really amazing nail polishes that can be used to paint small items.
So I think a silver body to pick up glints of light banded in blues to stand out from ground cover.
This would not only work on flashlights but other small equipment. Things like lighters or fire steels rank high on the list.
