I recently added to my large survival backpack 12 firesticks with a match-strike head. They are usually used for lighting a BBQ etc.

I think it's a usefull addition for starting a fire. It's a match and tinder in one, easy to use and relatively inexpensive.
Drawbacks: not wind/waterproof.

Therefor it shouldn't be your only form of tinder. I also carry coghlan's emergency tinder and Esbit solid fuel tablets.
