Yes, I was still browsing Gizmodo (see Sony post below)... Not something I'd rely on for survival, but definitely a light my kid would actually carry due to the fun-factor (important for kids!).

I like it! C'mon, anyone else who likes flashlights must be intrigued, too.

The fact that it has a white and red LED and that you can change the rechargable batteries when they wear out are good things. If anyone uses a Nalgene bottle as a PSK container, you can add lantern functionality in the same form factor by using this instead.

Doesn't look like it has a switch, though, only a light sensor, so you'll be unnecessarily cycling the battery unless kept in a dark place. And I wonder how durable the solar panel is to breaking.

There is a switch to turn it off:

"There’s also a handy waterproof switch on the cap that lets you change from the white LED (bright), to red (preserves your night vision), or turn it off completely."

I hadn't seen that the batteries are rechargable--that makes it more attractive to me. I wonder if it'll run on NiMH batteries rather than NiCad. Hmmm... I'm sure the experts at Candlepowerforums would know about it.

I wonder if the cap/light fits a standard Nalgene. That would be cool.

Back in my scout summer camp days, before the wide-spread availablilty of battery powered lamps, we found that shining a flashlight (6v type) through a plastic gallon milk jug full of water would light up the inside of the tent.

I wonder if the water bottle is made of high grade material that doesn't leave tastes. resistant to drops, etc.
Also, is the lid of a size that it would fit over a nalgene wide mouth?
