I found this admin/command panel that fits in or on a pack, but it's from an Australian company. It's a decent price, but I'd rather not wait the two weeks for shipping, so I was wondering if anyone has seen a similar one available in the US.

I have seen one, but I am having a terrible time finding it right now. Thought Blackhawk made one. I will keep looking.

HIgh Speed Gear Inc makes something similar but it is much bigger. Personnally, I dont like things hanging in front of me, unless I am going to be convoying for a long time. If you have to move, those zippers wont close up quick enough to prevent loss of items in the fold over compartment.

The one from high speed gear inc is called the warlord, and it is a stand alone piece designed to go over your chest or body armor.

I agree on both counts. I'm looking for something that I can throw in my 3 day and carry around when we're camped.

Are we talking about the "desk" area built into their vests and the DACH?

HSGI makes a smaller version of their EOD pouch that might work. VERY similiar to that is a pouch from SpecOps Brand that I call a mini-Rat, and as a result I can never remember the name for. Both are quite a bit bulkier than this lovely bit of Aussie kit, and neither would would very well as "micro desk".

Emdom has some of their "shingle pouches" that might work well.

Tactical Tailor, Paraclete, Blackhawk and TAG all have similiar "admin pouches". Maxpedition's M1 (IIRC) is similiar to these, but the "stuff pouch" as I call it is about two inches deep. There is knock off of it at Major's Surplus now.

SpecOps brand also has a very nice pocket organizer. Knock offs of it are Major's, Cheaper than Dirt, Blackhawk, CountyComm, all sorts of places.

All of these are either MOLLE or MALICE based.

If you aren't in the mood for something like this, prowl your local office supply store. Plenty of zip around notebook holders and planners out there that will drop into a BOB without too much trouble.

My personal favorite from this lot is a hardsided index card box that is about an inch deep- there is a lot you can do with an inch of 3x5 cards, if you take the time to type up and print out info. References, mini maps, et al, limited only by the imagination.

Of course, if you cut down 3x5s, you can put them into an Altoids tin.

And I'm going to stop rambling now.
