Anyone know of a US distributor for glow rings, or a UK distributor that ships to the US?

There are a couple on eBay that were mentioned here a few weeks ago. The search should find it, it had to the with SgtMike's micro kit, IIRC

I would love to know the real legal deal with these. I have several Internet snippets which make a case for these thing being illegal in our US of A. Which makes me think that buying one on ebay is a gray market purchase (this is a total guess). Is anyone knowledgable enough to assert what they BELIVE is the actual legal status of these items. I know its all technicalities but lets pretend we all follow the law all the time

our government [nuclear regulatory commission] believes this is a frivolous use of tritium and will not approve them for sale. I don't know if TAD gear ever got their tritium thumbstuds for knives approved by the NRC or not. Go figure -- the NRC allows tritium watches but not keychains

I got mine on ebay from singapore

so it is your belief that they are not for sale in the USA because Uncle Sam thinks it's a waste of nuclear technology?

that's what I was told from a seller in the UK that would not sell them to me -- he said our government thought that was a trivial use of tritium and would not approve them for sale here

I have some on my handgun sights. I guess Uncle Sam thinks that is less trivial.

I believe, and I may be wrong, that it is the amount or tritium that is regulated by the US not the actual use. I am also under the impression that while these are legal to own in the US, they are not legal to sell... if that makes any sence.

How much tritium are in a glow ring? And is there a safety concern having this much radioactive material too close to the body?

Although Tritium does produce ionizing (beta IIRC) radiation, it's pretty weak compared to most radioactive materials. Typically you ingest it as tritiated water, but you can also breath it. As long as it's not in your body pinging around in your tissues, you should be relatively safe. Don't go breaking it open and eating the stuff even if it leaves your body in about a month... If it does break open, handle it with chem gloves and dispose of properly. For the most part don't handle it, breath it or ingest it, and it shouldn't pose any problems in it's sealed tube.

I purchased some thru eBay from the dealer Raven-Tech I have also purchased some from him outside of eBay. I receive them in 4 days from the U.K. (Not bad huh). Everyone who sees them wants them. My girlfriend wears them out to the club and gets alot of attention. Boring me just uses them on my key chain and EDC kit like Sgt Mike.

BTW...the 3 main uses for tritium in the U.S. is (was?) in watches, gun sights and EXIT signs.
