I read news report on autoblog.com that there is prius backlash against its owners. SUV drivers are intimidating prius car owners on the highway and on the streets. What has the world become? Will SUV drivers do same thing for bicycle riders too?

I wish them GOOD LUCK!
I've known several Priuses, two of my friends have them, and one is on his second. One, finding ice at 55mph, ate about 70 feet of gaurdrail, never went airborne and the driver walked away. Most trucks can't say that, and the majority of SUVs these days are built more like cars.

There is no such thing as a congested HOV lane in CA. Everyone likes to drive their own car. The HOV lane is usually empty.

I wish the same could be said about HOV lanes in Houston. There always seems to be broken-down cars blocking them. Anyway, here is a link about Prius backlash in LA: Prius Backlash -Blast

Did I miss something, or is there no actual documentation of "road rage" or do they consider talking about it on line a form of road rage?

Interesting....
I've never seen a Prius not going faster than me except when the weather is bad. Their owners know thier cars can be powerhouses, and have enough mass to be safe in my experince. Some even autocross- the hybrids have mad manuverability.
Although, maybe Prius owners in Vermont are crazier than their counterparts in Ca.

Guilty as charged. During the Presidental election, I had Bush/Cheney 04 stickers on the bumper of my 1-ton pickup. I am on the highway and as usual I check my 6 and side views every 30-45 seconds. My truck is big. I cannot see the ground from my rear view mirror for 20 feet behind my truck. I am looking in my mirror and see a line right above my tailgate. I finally realise it is the roofline of a car. I move over, the car follows, I move over to the slow lane, car follows, I speed up, car sppeds up etc. Finaly the car passes me and it is emblazoned with Kerry/Edwards stickers, no blood for oil stickers etc. It is a Toyota Prius. So 2 can play at that game. I pull my 1 ton diesel right up on its rear. Go ahead and slam on the brakes cause I am going right over you. In hindsight, I should have taken the high road and been more mature but I got pi**ed off. I see Prius' all the time. More power to that person getting 50 MPG and helping mother earth. I need a rig to haul my 3 boys and the wife. I also needed to pick up a ton of manure the other day. Good luck getting that into the Toyos trunk.

*chuckle* I've also seen Priuses (still not sure on the plural of this) with Bush stickers on them.
I also don't know anyone outside of the lunatics who think that a solar car is viable who are saying that trucks like yours should be done away with. Sure, I'd love to see a deisel hybrid, but I don't mind sharing the road with guys like yours. It has a reason. The ones I hate are the 20-somethings with the dualies and 10" lifts and the umpty-thousand watt sound systems. That's just pointless.
Besides, it sounds like you were dealing with a bad driver. You can get those behind the wheel of anything. Logging trucks out of Canada... man, those are the worst! Crawl right up to your bumper, flash to low beams so you KNOW when they put the highs on andf keep them there, and stare at you while you are doing (classified- assume it to be 50+) in a 50mph on what in most parts of the US are a back road. At night.
