<deleted> I was almost swarm attacked by 3 teenage kids tonight as I left subway. I was walking off the pedestrian overpass and proceed across apartment complex polium. 3 youths about 16-17yrs old were walking towad my direction from different apartment. One of them suddently rush me kick me on the shin. The other 2 kids also rush me. I point the tip of umbrella toward them as defensive weapon. It was raining today thus I carried umbrella.

I ran to a nearby restaurant and ask owner to call the cops. they record the incident. I know these kids live in nearby apartment. I will camp out to check out all the kids in day time.

I thought I was going to get into a dam serious fight tonight. !!

I will carry a heavy duty pila flashlight as weapon next time I walk at night. I am still shook up and angry as hell. I live in this area for 17yrs without any incidents. Teenage kids in Toronto are becoming insane.

I'm not worried about wolves, coyotes, or coy-wolves (New England coyotes with a lot of wolf genes). I am worried about domestic dogs that are improperly trained and unmonitored. Ferals are worse.

Canine and human really are an evolution in parallel.

Wow, what has happened to Toronto. I left in 1972, and it was quite a safe place to be, used to walk about all over downtown and even the harbour area at all times of the day or night and never had a single problem. I know it's much larger than back then but most teens were more concerned about buying a TWOFOUR rather than beating people up. Of course I don't go anywhere with out protection be hand held or the 150 pound Anatolian shepard with the largest teeth I have ever seen on a dog. What part of Toronto did this occur { east end }?? Toronto has recently had a sharp rise in murder in swarming by teenagers. There also been a rise in violent home invasions. Police shot 2 black youths( 1 died of bullet wounds )who were responsible for 5 home invasion. Police investigation found that these youths are honor students at hightshool and were top baskbetball players.

The dam city is no longer safe. There were multiple murders in day time at busiest shopping center on yonge/dundas corner. Street shoppers were killed in during the shooting between youth gangs. On Thurday april 20, a young 16yr old phillipino kid was killed in swarming when he went to local mall to buy McDonald food . The swarming of kids was captured by security camera. Police will catch the bad guy soon. The video footage show a youth stab the kid in the back. The poor victim didnt' know any of these punks.

I don't want to make this a political discussion, but have you noticed if crime has increased in Canada since the goverment increased the gun control measures? Or would you say that the two are unrelated.

Criminals tend to get bolder when their is minimal risk to themselves.

How much of it is crime for profit (fencing the stolen items, mugging, etc; I include crime to get drug money in this) vs crime for the thrill?

You have hatchlings and cubs for whom almost nothing is forbidden, for whom there is no mystery, and are not guided, and they will entertain themselves in the most primal, primative ways possible.

And the thing is, by the time they are teenagers, the behavior pattern is set. Most of them won't reform if given the opertunity. You get X enjoyment out of creating, or destroying; creation take Y amount of time, destruction takes a fraction of that time. Instant gratification, and more of it.

There are few animals that kill for fun. Most of us grow out of that stage. Almost kinder for them and society to put them down.

I am not sure that I agree. All people can change. But it is unfortunately true that most won't.

The pastor at a church that I attended back in college augmented his income when he was a teenager by a little breaking & entering. Needless to say, he does not do that anymore <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

No offense intended - but I find placing blame on anyone but the perpetrators and incidentally, their parenting is a cop-out. We are all looking to point fingers and to have quick solutions. But we make games, music, movies and TV (and guns, and sex, and other entertainment) all scapegoats. It doesn't solve the problem and only serves to mask the true source. Inevitably, limits are placed on adult access to legal endeavors when politicians looking to be seen to be doing ANYTHING start cracking down.

Sadly enough, those politicians are doing what the public really wants. In many instances, the public is as misguided with our societal stewardship as those parents are with their troubled children.

Even so, blame lies with the ones causing trouble. They should be made to pay. I'd say the 3 who attacked may have been looking to do more than simply mug our poor friend. I hope they are caught and punished.
