I saw a lot of different PSK's at this site:

What's your opinion about these kits, is there someone on the forum that made them?

And a question to the 'newer members' of the forum.

It's interesting to see other kits and to get replies about them.

Survival kits are personal, purpose build kits. They are usually design after the users skill level and personal preferences. This means that there really isn't a wrong or right way. If you comment about a kit, you can only reflect on it with your opinion and give suggestions.

The kits on survival.com are a little lacking on some locations, but most people on survival.com have more experians than other people. Therefor they can go by with less.

I would have made a diffrent kinds if kits, but like i said, kits are personal. So i'm don't really like to comment about other people's kit, if there not here to explain there choices.Except for commercials kits.

I am by no means an expert, and probably have some of the least survival experience of the many great minds on this forum...

but...

The mighty D.R. himself has trashed many commercial kits because either:

• The items in them are sub-par (junk) and would likely break
• Some essential element is missing (no mirror, no whistle, no fire starter, etc.)

I do readily admit that different environments and different skill levels call for different kits. But even so, glaring deficiencies and poor quality are never acceptable.

Of course, you can feel free to disagree with me. Discussion encourage. Sorry for thread-hijacking.

well for homemade kits (and commerical onces too) there are always compromises. Price can be one of them and it's a compromise made by the maker. If a person can't afford anything else, than it's beter than nothing.

But lets chance that sentense too, because you somewhat right. There are many ways to make a kit right.

OK. Back to the topic at hand.

The "SASS" kit looks interesting. For the "click impared," the idea is to take a machette and take the plastic handles off. Then, you can store some small goodies inside the plastic handles. This requires keeping an allan wrench attached to the machette lanyard. Pretty cool idea, if you ask me.

Other than that, I did not look too close, but did not see anything but variations on ideas seen on this forum every day. Still a good resource for ideas, though.

I just had a quick look. Just seen "poor", "mediocre" , "adequate", "good" and maybe ( fanfare! ) the odd "excellent" scrolling before my eyes. That's the problem with this site. You become very aware of the short comings of many kit's. Gives you an appreciation of just how good Doug's kit is. Take one of his kits, add a wire saw, mini bic and purification tablets. Stick a mini-poncho, flexibottle & a knife in your other pockets. Then you are good to go.
