They are very accurate but many folks do not understand that they have to make corrections in the field. Altimeters are not set and forget; one must periodically correct the altitude when one is at a place of known elevation (like a USGS benchmark or a trail junction, lake etc. that will have a know elevation on a map.)
Many people buy these and return them becuase they dont understand what they bought. Read the instructions.
