Hey all, I am scheduled to give a 45 minute seminar to high school age Girl Scouts. I would like to break it down as 15 minutes of class and then send them out on a scavenger hunt, Geocaching style. Does anyone know where I could download some short talk bulletins or the similar? I do not want to bog them down, just give them a genral idea of how they work and the uses for them. If I can't find anything, I will just write my own, but thought I would look for A PROFESSIONALLY WRITTEN PAPER FIRST!

Here's a reference that might give you some ideas, it's oriented for Boy Scout leaders, trying to introduce GPS and Geocaching. It gives an example of a game you can use to teach basic concepts. Hope it helps.

My favorite book on the topic is "GPS Land Navigation" by Michael Ferguson. The section that discusses specific models is too old, but it is very well written and describes use of GPS's, maps, and compasses, both individually and combined.
