I don't know if this has ever been posted before, but I was thinking of a good way to store a Bic lighter in the long term without having it accidently discharge the butane. I don't know how common an occurance it is for the buttons to get pushed in storage, but this epiffany came to me when I was chomping on a toothpick. Hope this helps, comments welcome. (Its just a tiny piece of a toothpick and some electrical tape, I'm sure a better looking/better working method could be devised, this took me all of 20 seconds)

That works! I used a baby ziptie and cut off the excess... but it requires a knife to cut it off

Very nice!

I've been wrapping rubber bands around top of the lighter until they fill up that gap and make it very hard to press. Plus? You get some extra rubber bands in case you need 'em. Minus? Need two hands to get the rubber bands off, and the trigger can still be depressed if it's pressed hard enough.

I like your solution better.

I have never realy been worried about the lighter being dischargedbut that is a Freaken great idea! I will probably use it for my survival kits that do not see the light if day as often or the lighter is in a tight place.
